Confused?
Are you one of the many people who is thoroughly confused about "what",
"when" and "why" when it comes to taking food supplements? If so,
then perhaps this article will help.
The Power of Three
Basically, there are three supplements that I believe every individual,
at least in this country, should consider taking. First on the list
is a high quality multiple vitamin and mineral designed for your
gender and age group. Second is a tablespoon of flaxseed oil per
day. Third, is a combination containing many different antioxidants.
With these three things, a basic framework can be built to support one's
nutritional requirements.
Enzymatic Therapy
The particular brand name that I will mention is called Enzymatic Therapy,
but similar products can be used if they are found to be high in quality.
In my view, few brands compare to Enzymatic Therapy's product line.
Enzymatic Therapy makes excellent multiples. The "Doctor's Choice"
line differentiates between male and female, and also between teens, middle
aged people and seniors. For example, the senior's multiple has more
digestive enzymes and contains herbs such as dong quai for hormone balance
in women and saw palmetto for prostate health in men.
Though the importance of a good multiple often seems to be down-played,
I consider them to be a must. Multiples prevent deficiencies, increase
energy and help the body to function in all of its daily processes.
Flaxseed Oil
Not many people have even heard of flaxseed oil, but it is as important
as a multiple. Flax has a small seed with a
very hard seed coat that is difficult for our digestive system to penetrate.
However, when an oil is made out of the seed, it is much more available
to the body and is and excellent source of essential fatty acids.
The Omega-3 fatty acids are found in flax. These acids help the body
in many different ways. The fatty acids in flaxseed oil can prevent
high cholesterol, dry skin, slow-growing nails and hair, constipation,
damage to nerve cells and joint stiffness, to name just a few of its benefits.
Doctor's Choice makes a very good flaxseed oil.
Antioxidants
Anything that can possibly help prevent cancer has got my vote.
Antioxidants can aid in the prevention of cancer. Its best to use
a combination of antioxidants such as garlic, grape seed extract and green
tea in conjunction with supplemental A, C, E and selenium.
Doctor's Choice antioxidant contains all of these and more.
With these three supplements, the bases are pretty well covered with
regard to preventing health problems. There are many other products
that could and should be used to address individual pre-existing problems.
These three however, will definitely put you on the right track.
